Career Opportunities / Bilingual Services

As the number of Russian-speaking elders in the Boston area has grown over the past 15 years, so too has Hebrew SeniorLife's commitment to this community. Our adult day health programs care for these seniors in their native language, providing an essential comfort to our Russian population. We currently house Russian program sites in Roslindale and Brighton, both of which have Russian-speaking staff and deliver culturally and linguistically appropriate services for Russian-speaking elders. Our Brighton program is 100 percent staffed with Russian-speaking personnel!

For more than 100 years, Hebrew SeniorLife, an integrated, multi-site system of housing, health care, research and teaching that includes the acclaimed Hebrew Rehabilitation Center, has served the needs of many Russian seniors across the Greater Boston area. If you are a Russian-speaking RN or LPN, we would like to speak to you.

Adult Day Health Services

At both our Roslindale and Brighton locations, Hebrew SeniorLife's Adult Day Health programs are committed to providing a "great day for seniors." These programs are intended to provide support to seniors living at home, and to offer an alternative to nursing home care.

Extensive research, both at Hebrew SeniorLife's Institute for Aging Research and other facilities, shows that staying in a familiar environment, maintaining as much independence as possible, and staying connected to one's community is the best way for seniors to enjoy a good quality of life. Our Adult Day Health programs address this by providing both a social community and a comprehensive range of services in one place, including:

  • Staff with Russian language skills
  • Recreational, social and educational activities
  • Entertainment and creative arts programs
  • Fitness programs
  • Nursing services, medication administration, and personal care
  • Nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack
  • Social work services, counseling and family support
  • Physical, occupational and speech-languagetherapy (with M.D. referral)
  • Door-to-door chaircar van transportation

Specialized Care in a Familiar Language

Our Russian-speaking staff help participants with a wide range of cognitive and physical challenges to function at their best--emotionally, physically and intellectually--whether they need nursing care and supervision, or simply socialization and a structured community setting. Our specialized care is designed to:

  • Reduce depression and anxiety in Russian-speaking seniors who might otherwise be isolated at home.
  • Help seniors suffering from dementia to benefit (both in terms of well-being and mental awareness) from the structure, stimulation and accepting environment that a day program provides.
  • Care for seniors with more severe physical limitations, including incontinence, wheelchair dependence, Parkinson's disease, stroke, and multiple chronic conditions, etc.
  • Benefit seniors with lifelong mental health issues, who may require increased support as they age.

We invite disabled applicants who may need assistance in completing an application to do so onsite rather than online, if you prefer.
